Follow these steps to create your dream engagement ring.
Step 1: Select your metal and think about a complimenting stone.
M e t a l :
Engagement rings are made from 100% recycled pure gold sourced in the USA and conflict free diamonds (or other stone of choice).
Rings can be made in:
- 10k white, yellow, or rose gold
- 14k white, yellow or rose gold
- 18k white, yellow, or rose gold.
Step 2: Select your band height/width
B a n d H e i g h t & W i d t h
The smallest height and width we typically have for our rings is 1.6mm. In some cases, with simple designs and smaller stones, we can do smaller. Larger options are of course also available.
Step 3: Select your type of edge

Straight:
Step 4: Select your surface finish
S u r f a c e F i n i s h :
- Matte: (rose gold ring in photo on right)
- Shiny: (yellow gold ring in photo on left)
Step 5: Decide on style of ring.
Consider these questions:
Do you have a budget for your ring?
What stone do you want as a center stone on your ring? And what size do you want that stone to be? (see "Gem & Diamond Guide" below)
Do you want more than one stone on your ring? What stones and what sizes? (see "Gem & Diamond Guide" below)
Do you have a preference for clarity of stones? (see "Clarity & Color Chart" below if you're unfamiliar with this)
What kind of setting do you want each stone to be? Prong, bezel, shared prong, bar, channel?
Think ahead about how a wedding band would fit with your engagement ring design. Maybe you are not sure about the options for wedding bands, which we can certainly help you with.
Step 6: Contact us
Once you decide what you want your engagement ring to look like, email us at solidwerks.jewelry@gmail.com to schedule a meeting if you are local to Lancaster, PA.
At the meeting I’ll get your ring finger sized if you don’t already know it, go over all design requests, go over my contract with you in person, discuss a very estimated price (exact price will be emailed to client a few weeks later after some research of design).
If you are not local to Lancaster and cannot meet in person, include in your email as much of this info as you can:
- when the proposal is/when you would like the ring completed by.
- what style you’d like the engagement ring to be - be sure to include all decided info from Steps 1-5 and anything extra you'd like to be done that isn't mentioned above (photos are a great reference if you can find them).
- your ring size
- an address you would like the ring shipped to.
- an email you would like the contract and invoice sent to.
Once price is agreed upon and contract is signed and sent back, a down payment of 50% is required to buy all materials and begin the making of the ring. The remaining balance is due when engagement ring is complete.
